The small settlement of Las Rosas with its approximately 60 inhabitants is located to the north of La Gomera at about 700m altitude.
Las Rosas belongs to the municipality of Agulo and is surrounded by lush greenery and very close to the national park "Garajonay". This makes the village an ideal starting point for hikes in Gomera's unique laurel forest, but also the large island circular route 132 passes through it.
In Las Rosas there is a small village church and several bars and restaurants such as the "Roque Blanco". Here you can enjoy local, Canarian cuisine, delicious and plentiful. The viewpoint is also recommended on a hiking trail from "El Tión - Vallehermoso - El Tión".
Nearby is Las Rosas "Donkey-Park" which is run by Brigitte and Bernhard - a visit (not just for children) is a pleasant change. Apart from the donkeys, there are also other animals and all tame for stroking.
A very special highlight of Las Rosas is the "Mirador de Abrante". From the restaurant with the same name enter a seven-meter-long "glass tunnel", which extends far above the rock projection. One has the feeling of hovering high above the Atlantic. The view from the top of Agulo, across the sea to Teide on the neighbouring island of Tenerife is fantastic!
On the way to the "Mirador de Abrante" you’ll pass the visitor center "Juego de Bolas" and will learn a lot about the origins and history of the island, as well as about the unique nature of La Gomera and volcanism.
